Certificate Attestation Procedure

The Government of UAE requires all educational certificates, professional or academic, emanating from India/overseas to be attested by the Indian/overseas Embassy/Consulate in UAE for further attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE Government before grant of UAE Visa. 

In case of India, the UAE Government also accepts educational certificates attested by their Embassy in New Delhi and Consulate in Mumbai provided the certificates were also attested first by the Consular Section of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India (Counter at Ground Floor, Patiala House, Tilak Marg, New Delhi).

The certificate/documents for attestation should be submitted to the Embassy/Consulate along with a photocopy of the certificate/document and a copy of his/her passport. The original passport should be presented for verification and return. Private firms applying for attestation of documents should submit a written request stating the purpose of the attestation.


Shown below are the attestation procedures of various certificates…..

1.     Marriage Certificate

Original Certificate duly attested/ authenticated by the Home Department (General Administration Branch) of the concerned state and its photocopy.

A copy of the passport.

2.     Driving License

The Driving Licence in original duly attested/ authenticated by the Home Department (General Administration Branch) of the concerned state and its photocopy.

Sworn Affidavit (in duplicate) in the format prescribed.

3.     Degree/PG Certificate

Certificate has to be duly attested by Authorised Officer of the Department of Secondary Education and Higher Education, Scholarship Division, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India, (Address: A-I/W-3, Curzon Road Barracks, Kasturbha Gandhi Marg, New Delhi-110001 Tel: 0091-11-3384501) and Consular Section, (CPV Division), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, (Address: Ground Floor, Patiala House, Tilak Marg, New Delhi.

Photocopy of the document and passport.

4.     Birth Certificate

Original Certificate duly attested/ authenticated by the Home Department/ General Administration of the concerned state and its photocopy. Photocopy of parent's passport, indicating page bearing resident visa.

5.     Sponsorship Declaration

     Sponsorship declaration in the format prescribed - duly filled and complete in all respects

     A photocopy of the first five pages and the page bearing the current valid resident visa of the passport held by the Sponsor/ Declarant.

    Either the salary certificate of the sponsor or a photocopy of his/ her residence visa

An applicant is required to visit the Embassy between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm with the following documents. Valid passport in original and a photocopy (first / last and valid visa page) NO EXEMPTION IS PERMITTED IN THIS REGARD original and photocopy of document to be attested.

On arrival at the attestation department, your documents will be checked by the helpdesk officer. A token will be issued. Present your documents to the counter staff for verification as per your token number. Documents in order and complete is accepted along with the applicable fee and a receipt is issued.

 Timings: Embassy of India (EOI), Abu Dhabi is open from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Sunday through Thursday (except public holidays as applicable to EOI, Abu Dhabi) Attestation and service fee are payable in cash only. Processed document will be returned to you within 20-30 minutes of submission on the same day.
